But then again all of my successes... the people touched through my life’s work have been poured into my book. My story is going to save someone’s life that is maybe having suicidal thoughts. Lane, MA. aspiring author and the Associate Director with University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is a contracted employee with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, Office of Learning and Professional Development. Verleaner has over 28 years of child welfare experience, working with children and families.
Writing this book, she wanted to empower women and girls about their brokenness when you go around looking like you got it all together. She wants to challenge who we really see in the mirror. She wanted to share her personal experiences dealing with divorce and some challenging relationships. This was a time of healing for all of the baggage she carried around from one relationship to another even after she thought she cleaned the suitcase out some small particle of him was left behind.
Verleaner is a dedicated member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church “a church where everybody is somebody”. Over the last 11 years Verleaner has been the Coordinator for the Dr. AED Youth Choir, Soprano Section Leader for the Mass Choir. She also works with the Christian Education Ministry where she trains the leaders of the church in various workshops.
She is a proud alumnus of Lane Technical High School. Verleaner completed her undergraduate work at Northern Illinois University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Criminology. Ms. Lane attended graduate studies at Governor State University with a Master of Art’s in Early Childhood Education.
You can find Verleaner being a servant working hard in the vineyard with the Top Ladies of Distinction Will County Black Diamond Chapter, which she is one of the chartering members and currently the President. She is one of the co-founders for Divas Down for The Cause, Inc. a charitable organization dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals; transforming their life challenges into opportunities for success. For the past 26 years, Verleaner has served on the Board of Directors for Lenore’s Kitchen Catering. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Xi Nu Omega Chapter. Verleaner is a native of Chicago. She currently is single and lives in South Holland, IL.

The “He” is about “Father’s”, failed marriages, choosing the wrong men, positioning yourself to meet the wrong men. Remember true beauty starts in the heart…the heart of heart, the soul of loving yourself. Beauty is about your character—humility, love, purpose, faith, compassion, integrity, and gratitude. Why didn’t he see the beauty in me because I saw the beauty in myself?
